Mt Washington Hotel Interior
We drove over to the Historic Mount Washington Hotel on a day trip from where we were staying near North Conway, NH. We were there in mid October, so the fall foliage was very colorful.
The hotel is a huge very majestic looking building with the red roof and Spanish Style architecture. The interior looked like it had recently been redone. We were surprised that they let us wander around almost everywhere in the common areas of the hotel on our own self-guided tour considering there were some obviously very well off guests staying there also using the same areas.
The views of the fall foliage colors on nearby Mt Washington were spectacular. There were huge long porches with chairs on both the front and back of the hotel where you could sit and enjoy the scenery. You could imagine the well-dressed couples of olden times strolling up and down the long porches.
We toured the Hotel on a Saturday. We wished we had gone earlier in the week when the weekend sightseeing crowds weren't there. Guess that is our Tip - go midweek Vs on the weekend.
The drive to the Mt Washington Hotel and the tour was one of the highlights of our New Hampshire Fall Vacation in the White Mountains.
