Gettysburg Battlefield Trip - Our Family Loved It!

Eisenhower Farm next to Gettysburg Battlefield
We did a what ended up being a 2 night trip down to Gettysburg from where we were staying in Bushkill, Pennsylvania on an early October Pocono Mountains vacation last year.
We started out the "Day Trip" as a 1 night overnight as Gene had suggested here. Ended up our two teenagers (15 and 17) and my Wife and I were enjoying the exhibits in the Gettysburg Battle Museum and the very interesting Battlefield Driving Tour so much we stayed an extra night! (We recommend General Pickett's Buffet for Dinner with 2 hungry Teenage boys!)
Don't miss the walking tour of the old Gettysburg downtown buildings where you see bullet holes in the walls and where the snipers hid out in the attics of buildings and the town people in the basements. We were pleasantly surprised how much our boys learned about the Gettysburg Battle and Civil War History.
We also toured the Eisenhower Farm and museum in his house. Interesting history including his private putting green and greenhouse in his back yard.
Our family would rate the Gettysburg Battlefield overnight trip as our Top "Must See" on our Pennsylvania Pocono Mountains Vacation. Allow minimum of 1 night stay in Gettysburg.
